Any one have any ideas where I might purchase remote control replacements for the Boxee DSM380 remotes

I've tried utilising a Harmony but it's incompatible technology apparently.

I believe that the Boxee uses an RF (radio frequency) remote control unit rather than the more usual infra-red (optical) rcu, which most of us are accustomed to.

That particular link is, as I'm sure you are aware, for an American model but it begs the question will any old RF Remote universal possibly do the job ?


I don't (really) need the keyboard capability, just the ability to move up and down the menus

There is an option in the manual to link remotes with the main box

It would not surprise me if there was as much variation in RF RCU's as there exists in IR RCU's, i.e. various codes etc.

There is only one way to find out - suck it and see.

The postage charged for the unit illustrated in your link is a little on the high side. There appears to be something similar (if not identical) available from Aliexpress with a much more attractive rate .
