Default JTAG Austar ABS 8776 Help

    Hi Guys,

I'm still recovering from the shock that all the info that this site once contained seems to be lost. Can't believe it's all gone

I was wondering if someone could post up the good firmware for the ABS 8776to be loaded via JTAG. Someone gave me one the other day and I want to be able to change the lnb settings etc.

Hope we can rebuild this site from all the thousands of hours we have wasted here over the years

    Thanks, Zeep

here is an older pre 2000 firmware for the 8776 - i've heard it works great for CS'ing

Nice going with the software. I'm having trouble connecting with my JTAG. There was no pins there on the socket and three surface mount resistors are missing. Do i need to solder in these resistors to get it going? I soldered in the pins but it won't connect.

Also what kind of JTAG circuit should I be running. Here is the schematic of the one im using

    Thanks, Zeep

no the jtag connector on the 8776 PCB is never populated with a connector just blank solder filled holes - you shouldn't need to add any components to the board

yep the jtag circuit looks fine - should also work with 5 Volt which you can find on several of the components around the card reader, is everything grounded together correctly (computer, JTAG & decoder)

what version jkeys software are you using and does it have the correct ADB-8776 Flash Definitions in it

what is the board version/revision of your 8776

have a read of the old thread:

    and here is the jkeys:

    Hey all,

I dont have a abs decoder but looking at the pictures of the jtag area it seems my board is supprisingly similar. Has a resistor below the first 2 pads, thats all thats different. Even has the pinheader to the left of it. Would i be able to use this firmware as well. Says ADB all over it but cant figure out where i find the version number. Its not clear.

    Thanks
