Default Italian & Greek Channels on Optus D2

    Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone knows how long the Italian and Greek channels have been actively working free to air on Optus D2 and will they be remain Free. I have never seen them working before especially Rai and now they work but would like to know for how long? Thanks

They are on Intelsat 19, and don't get excited they won't be FTA long, in fact they encrypted yesterday but I see they are back again.

    Default Greek and Italian channels

The Greek and Italian Channels are all provided by Panglobal not TVPlus so maybe they will not be encrypted?

My understanding is that PanGlobal TV is a joint-venture between PanAmSat Corporation and (in this case) GlobeCast Australia.

As such, PanGlobal provide transmission services to international broadcasters, i.e. they provide up-link services and satellite bandwidth only. They do not provide the programming.

As to whether the channels referred to will remain free-to-or or become encrypted, only time will tell, as this is a matter for the respective program providors.

Wrong... all the newly added channels on 12726 H TP are part of Mysat ... expected to be encrypted soon.

The following are still FTA on IS19:

Globo, Record TV, RCP Internacional, SIC Internacional.

RAI Italia is also there, but since it’s FTA on AS5, I guess it’s meant to be FTA here?

Also, on 12725, is “Antenna” – currently showing a soccer match – not sure what language – it all sounds like Greek to me

I doubt it will remain so. The critical difference between RAI on AS5 and IS 19 is that the latter carries 6-7 live Italian soccer matches each weekend. It's the most probable driver of subscriptions to this service
