The decision has caught the taxi industry by surprise.

Just shows how narrow minded and short sighted the Taxi Industry was!
Writing has been on the wall for 3 years.
They mustn't bother to read news outside their own State or Country.

And this "End of the Cab Industry" is utter rubbish.
The 2 coexist fine side by side, it just gives people choice.

Other countries have it and now embrace it.
The Cab Industry just needs to pull its finger out and make a national app for its service, give it a name, then it can sit beside Ubers App in peoples phones.
Geez, its not rocket science.
They just need to move with the times.

The winners in the are the end users, BUT, they can also be losers.
Because with choice, so do the Taxi Drivers have choice and can cancel a fair before you are picked up, meaning you have to pick another, or hail a cab down.
So, its not all good.

They have tried and ubber went to the accc and in the end the accc said no they are not allowed to
have an app like ubers because they would have an unfair advantage pft whats good for the one should be good for all

Wow, thats nuts.
I thought that was the idea of the ACCC, Fair Competition.

Geez, i have 3 Ride/Taxi Apps on my phone, they all get used in different areas and for different reasons.
Its just great to have the back up if one options fails to deliver.

the sooner uber gets to kalgoorlie the better.....

i just called a cab from the local monopoly to a well known pub in Boulder.
waited 15 minutes till a cab pulled up. I got in and told the driver where to take me, about $10...

Another cab pulled up round the corner, next thing the driver told me to get out and take the other cab because it was his job.

i said, mate i'm already in your cab, take me home....

he refused to take me anywhere and insisted i get out and take the other cab.

I got in the other cab and gave him a serve, basically told him the sooner uber got to Kalgoorlie the better.

FFS, all the local cabs do is whinge about uber and provide a shit service....
