Default Gold/Silver card Programming with Jaycar Mk11

I am a bit nervous about getting beat up here but I could do with some help.
I’ve bought the kit, it has been 25 years since I played with electronics so it was some pleasure to complete the soldering job.
My new pc doesn’t have a serial port, so I pulled out an old P1 running win98. Loaded the 7 ocx files and VBrun60 from all the reading I have done here.
Used the tutorial FM card by whiteOx to extract my Aurora card details(no win imp tv etc). First success
The next thing is to find (The Kind Nokia Owner) for my EMK. Search on nokia and there is a lot about mobile phones, not much on loggers.
My next problem is I bought a gold card and tried to prepare it with ICprog. Run the smartcard wizard, in pic mode bootloader loads to PIC. Then in normal mode with GFGoldv226 file selected to write to eeprom I get an error Programming is not supported.
Next I tried to familiarise myself with LMEdit but when I tried to start it I got a Run Time error 75 Path/File access error.
So I loaded everything on my sons pc P3 running win xp. Now ICprog gets error privileged instruction and if I continue it locks up.
LMEdit is ok but I haven’t got to that stage yet.
I have an old Silver card that is v 1.2 (old fox/austar/aurora) not in the box since when two-three years now. Lmedit wouldn’t read it but Ausgold card writer will. I come across a post in my readings here that had auraro details nov 07 so I manages to load them to the silver and is now in the box waiting to update. I don’t expect this to work but worth a try. I am confused with the two PMK’s 00 and 01. The tutorial says use 01.
You might ask why bother with all this as Irdeto 1 is ending. I have read all that and I will never learn younger and better late than never. Just having fun with a new challenge I guess. No I don’t know I just started reading and got hooked.
Sorry for the long winded post but any help would be appreciated.

    icprog will load the pic
to load the eprom you need through pic programer icprog wont do this
easiest way is load pic with icprog then load gfgold.crd then gfgoldpersonal.crd via cardhunter/writer/fmcard
if you put same details in pid 01 and 00 you wont have any problems
and if you request a emk a friendly logger will help

don't worry about an emk, just put it in the box and leave it for a couple of hours.

the codes are rolling fairly regularly these days.

logged emk's were required in the old days because even the plain keys didn't change for 3 years...

I had the old silver in for 2 days and nothing.
At the moment I am trying to make a goldy from my Aurora sub card.

adams.....well done if you have your card up & running,

for future reference...when running ic-prog make sure that you have all fuses unchecked & code protect off all the time.....these two settings have a really bad habit changing values.

I’m not quite there yet. In ic-prog the wizard puts a tick in WDT fuses, everything runs through to the end with no errors.
When I try the card in the STB I get Unknown card. Shouldn’t it be Service scrambled?
Either the it hasn’t encoded correctly or my D-10 MediaStar is incompatible. Any clues?

I can't get any program to read the goldie. Ausgold will read and write my old silver but I am still waiting for an EMK. Al must be out on the town tonight.
The Goldie has only GFGold v226 eeprom.hex loaded by the wizard with no errors so I don't know why lmedit, ggedit and Ausgold all give an error when I press the read botton.

you need 2 files for ggold pic and eeprom hex
or only 1 pic hex with 2 crd files as above
put your details into ausgold in both pid 00 and 01 and you need to xor the hmk and wait

I don't have a jaycar programmer and I'm at work, so I'm doing this from memory but here are the steps as I remember them...
    1. with card reader in PIC mode, use ICProg to program gfgold.hex
    2. with card reader in smartmouse mode (6MHz) use FMCard to program gfgold.crd
    3. the card should now have a serial no. and a few other details but no HSN PrID etc.
    4. with card reader still in smartmouse mode, use FMCard again to program personal.crd that has had your details added to PrID 01
    5. FMCard should now show your card with full details and it should work after a brief time in your decoder

The file names have been shortened, but should still make sense.

I should point out that I personally haven't had much luck with gold cards and Aurora for a long time, and I only use silver cards nowdays.

Well I did have some instruction similar to that where the card reader was in Phoenix mode.
I tried that and went ok, put the card in the box, come up service scrambled, Nationality + 21.
Found 6 digit code (CoCo) with Ausgold on silver. Put it into personal.crd, ran it again.
Put the card into the box, Nationality is now AUS, left it there about 20 min and it is up and running. I am amazed!
Just watched Hacket get Silver in the 1500 on GWN on my Gold.

    thanks Onefella
