Just looking at some old report cards from High School Form 2 1978 and they used a numeral system 1 to 4 ( could be more numbers )
Like to day A is great
What was a 1 back in the old days of Corporal Punishment, Bloody Cane LOL, was it a good score or a low score ??
Thanks for looking

I always remember it being A+, A, B+,B and so on.
Then it moved to Satisfactory or Non Satisfactory (The start of being Politically Correct) so as not to class students or some rubbish.
As for Punishment at School, hell yeah.
And don't forget we got it at home too, the spoon or the belt was swiftly coming once you crossed the line.

1-7(8?) was the scoring system I think. I never got anywhere near the 7-8 so I can't be sure
At uni (left in 1976) it was:
1. Enrolled
2. At least wrote something
3. Fail unless all other subjects passed then it was a conceded pass
4. Pass
5. Credit
6. Distinction
7. High Distinction
8?
My speciality was all 4's and a 3
In High School in Queensland at the time (mid 60's to 1970) it was ABCD (no + or -) until year 10 (junior) then it got changed to 1-7 (8?) for year 12 (senior)

It used to be 1 - 7 in QLD with 7 being the highest score. 7 subjects was the norm so 7 7s was good as it got.
Well that just broke my heart I was hoping 1 was good LOL

Back in 57 when I left school, I think everything was simply either 1 to 10 or to a 100.
50% was barely a pass ( on the total) to prevent you repeating the year so 50 to 75% was 'acceptable' and once you got above 80% that started to place you in the passing group for your final grade.
I dont know why but in my last year in school I went from around 10th in the Class to damn near zero from what I heard as I left school as soon as I turned 15 in the November so I dont remember now if I even did the final exam for the year as they were held much closer to Xmas than they are today.

In Souf ORZ back in the seventies it was A-E until exams then it was 1-5. 1 being the equivalent of A and so on. In my case, although I had potential to do better, I averaged just enough to pass.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Geez, you mean to say you too had the notation 'Potential/Could do Better' on your report card too and here's me thinking I had it exclusively..................

well mine had, that but followed by things like , 'if he applied himself' or 'if he could concentrate for longer than five minutes'.
my handwriting was awful at school, so of that was because I was left handed, and some attempts were made to cure me of that, but any way, best comment for a spelling test, with my awful handwriting was '7 out of 10, your guess is as good as mine'.

My school report card consisted of recording the number of days I attended and were absent, my highest mark in school, was 10 for writing my name properly. The absent days always out numbered the attendance days 2-1. They were very pleased to see me leave the day I turned 14 and so was I, as was finally free and able to hit the road without being dragged back and locked up.
This is sad in one way when a Kid just cant fit into the school system often for reasons that have nothing to do with their intelligence as I am thinking of a now grown Man whose home life was to say pathetic at best, but he left school, cracked an apprenticeship as a Panel Beater, qualified and worked the Trade for a few years before leaving and now drives Semis doing the heavy/wide loads.
He has a partner, 2 sub teenage boys, buying a House, has a couple of vehicles (she works as a local Courier) and looks to be doing well when you consider his early life and upbringing.

All i remember was forging my school results on the way home, was easy back in those days.
I remember hacking the high school system and changing lots of marks.......
