    Default Recording Captions

I am profoundly deaf and shopping for a VAST approved receiver/recorder, having recently received VAST approval.
Does anybody know if either of the VAST approved recorders UEC DSR 4639 or Humax HDR-1003S record captions onto their inbuilt hard drives
(I am assuming all receivers show captions)

The DSR 4639 records captions ok. I just checked on previously recorded programs and they are there.

The UEC DSD 4121 also records captions.

I think it's part of the VAST standard that all VAST PVR's are required to record captions in programs.

So I am guessing standards have been raised since this similar thread was begun

At that time, the only VAST decoder available was the UEC 4121 which did not initially have the recording feature.

Firmware upgrades and a 'PVR' remote were added later to provide recording/playback.

Other manufacturers of VAST decoders that were released much later also had the recording option available.

This is why this section, being exclusive to VAST is the best place to ask all VAST-related questions.

    Hope this helps.
