My only concern being, are we going to get served with the same crap from the other channels, or is it going to be another shopping channel.

We have food (SBS33), shopping channels on 7 with the Racing.com. lifestyle for those in the Metro areas on 9, so how about something 'physical' or failing that, wicker basket weaving in Pigeon maybe ???

Presuming this 'new' channel will be on LCN 66 Regional, it aint there yet and based on the details regarding the head banging going on behind the scenes, I wont be holding my breath waiting for it to happen.

With encore for encores, repeats after repeats, nightly shows repeated back-to-back on weekends, nightly Family Feud simulcast on three channels, excessive shopping channels, and those enjoyable insurance adds...

Anyone would think the stations are getting stuck for something to play.
We really do have some quality viewing.

Let's hope for some quality, not just quantity.

OHHHHHH ye of great faith, rarely if ever in the last 59 years has QUALITY ever been a criteria in the content of any TV program and so long as the dollar rules the making of shows, I doubt it ever will.............

The last paragraph says it all..............................and here was me thinking Australia had it over much of the World with a Television system that covered the whole continent and no matter whether you were Metropolitan or Regional, everyone got the same..............

Vast & regional Television viewers will go on the "Who knows when" list of will it come to their area ....... ?

I think it will be great when the "Major" Australian TV channels are available on the internet ...... it seems changes to TV channels on the internet are much more easily implemented ...?

it then begs the question is Internet TV Delivery better than Terrestrial Transmitters or Satellite delivery & will we eventually move to internet Delivery .... (when the NBN is completed) ?

Some new details about Ch 76

Its not 7 HD for all that are wondering, again 7 HD will be MPEG2 1080i (LCN 7, 70) and 7mate will go to MPEG2 576i (still on 73), the current 7 SD (MPEG2 576i) channel will be switched off from February 1 2016, remember 7 did say that everyone that watches AFL will be able to watch AFL in HD, its pretty much a lock that Seven won't follow Nine and make Nine HD a MPEG4 channel that not everyone can view due to hardware limitations in the consumer market.

Channel 76 will be a mix of lifestyle and movies geared towards female 25 to 56 market, it will also be supplemented during (1:00am to about 6am) by shopping content.
Its gonna be MPEG4 576i format with HE-AAC (48kHz variable bit rate) audio.

At this stage the reason why its taking so long to get up and running is Seven are waiting for Prime to also go live with it at the same time unlike Nine which basically shafted there broadcast partners WIN, Imparja and there owned NBN systems.

So the future line up of Seven will be:
    LCN 07, 70 - 7 HD MPEG2 1080i
    LCN 72 = 7 two MPEG2 576i
    LCN 73 = 7mate MPEG2 576i
    LCN 74 = TV4ME MPEG2 576i
    LCN 76 = 7 "********" MPEG4 576i
    LCN 78 = Racing.Com MPEG4 576i

Seven are also wanting to then switch over the SD 576i MPEG2 channels to MPEG4 as they can then fit approx 2 more channels with there existing spectrum allocation, as for what those two extra channels are? It might be the rumored co-owned channel with SBS which would be world news, world movies & world sports mixed in channel, the other channel might be a compliment to 7mate.

Of course nothing is official until its well official.

Currently on PRIME7 Central West NSW,
    64 is 4ME in MPEG4,
    65 is ishoptv, MPEG4
    68 is Racing.COM also in MPG4.
At the moment, there is no 66.

76 is currently being tipped by a credible source namely from jsmithdtv as being 7Kids in the day and 7Adult in the night time

That is actually going to happen much later on when there is space freed up by moving the 576i MPEG2 channels over to 576i MPEG4, there is some talk about the co-owned Seven / SBS Commercial channel of "International platform" and the final channel being the 7 Kids / Adult which is the compliment channel to 7mate which will be more aggressive geared towards males.
