    Default The Big Short

A story of the American Housing Market and how it was propped up and sold to investors
Then the underlying story of a small group of hedge fund investors that first noticed the cracks years before the collapse.
    Good use of actors
Direction was a bit weird and quirky, making me wonder if he understood the brief he was given by financial advisers.

All in all, a good watch
But as its produced by Disney, you have to wonder how much is inflated just to tell a good story.
I really liked Steve Corell in his role.

What the film doesn't tell, is the story with in the story, where the "Shorting" of Mortgage Funds in itself, also brought about the collapse.
When you bet against the house.... and the houses loses.... and billions are at stake, the house doesn't lose...... but its investors do.

I too watched this last night and was intrigued.
I actually enjoyed the Directors take, in fact I found myself watching on the right hand screen and googling specifics on the left hand screen.
All in all I found it followed quite closely the actualities of what happened, sure there was some 'artistic' content - but when all said and done, I liked it.
In hindsight I should have posted my Facebook status as: "I've blown the head gasket on my 1997 XR3i" rather than "I've just buggered a 14 year old escort".
The police still haven't seen the funny side, my lap top's been confiscated and the wife has gone off to her mum's.

Thanks seymour, i was thinking of searching some of the stuff and names etc they put up on the screen.
If anything, the movie portrays the amazing situation these guys found themselves in, then going up against bricks and mortar rock solid investing institution.
It was like to trying to convince people the world was actually round.

The guy that was renting showed a side i hadn't really thought about, would have been millions like him.

Since you blokes seem interested in the technicalities of this movie, I thought you might be interested in these two somewhat different analyses, done more from a financial viewpoint:

Haven't seen it yet.......but I'm pretty sure that there were plenty of real-life villains...mostly in suits.

Oceanboy...being produced by Disney would have me less concerned about how much is inflated, and more concerned about how much was glossed over
