Default 2016 is our hobby still working ?

    Hello All,

I have just found my old box full of MOSC card programmers, files, dreambox and Nokia SCSI logger system IRD1.

Its been some 10 years since I last played with these, I have been mostly working on Scanning for IPTV streams.

I understand that F*xtel use NDS, are we able to work with the streams ? I dont want to go over some 10 years of old posts just to find out I has wasted the best part of a day.

So if anyone could just let me know if the hobby still works, that would be great.

Im only looking at Ku band just now, I no longer have my 3 mtr C band dish.

PM me if you feel that is a better way.

    Happy 2016 everyone.

Nearly 5 years since you last posted and what you want to ask is "can someone give me what I want coz I dont want to research"

    Would that be right???

WOW where ya been hiding? in that time you've missed the gamma cards and the dragon cards, but all stitched up now so no hope, so maybe throw the box of bits back in the cupboard and a happy 20-16 to you

I used to post a lot on these forums some years back before foxtel tightened up all their security stopping people using dream boxes etc... I gave up this hobby a long time ago, sold my 3.7m aluminum dish in Auckland, these days I watch everything online, Netflix etc...

As a hobby, Satellite TV is like CB and Shortwave Radio listening was a few years ago when there was the fun of installing and chasing elusive (naughty/secretive) channels until the 'Broadcasters' found out and began to encrypt everything available.
Its odd that the equipment in all interests cost an arm and a leg in its hey day to buy but today much of it has greater ability like Digital etc and the prices are way down, like a bog standard Humax was worth over $1500 before dropping to around $500 and recently I just threw 3 out as they dont even have scrap value.
The Internet has definitely changed how people seek their entertainment and with more people not only being able to access the Internet, its capacity has increased as well to allow for greater and faster Data transfers.
Heaven only knows what it will be like in 2 years let alone in 5 or 10 years time.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

Yep, IPTV means TV on the road, in the boat, in the beer garden, on the beach, at a sporting event, in your motel room, at work, in the park.
Its pretty hard to drag a dish, box and cabling around to achieve the above
Its a lot easier to set up too and will run on any device that has a screen.

I'll take a punt and go for DTTD broadcasting, thats Direct to the Devise broadcasting from a Satellite for a future option.

We already have services that broadcast music from Satellites to mobiles, is it Sirus or Sirius in the USA?
Satellite phones have shrunk in size quite markedly so excluding indoor reception problems, why not your SMART phone/Tablet of 2020 being able to receive programs from both Terrestrial and Satellite while on the move?
