I am going to get a GooPhone
I'm curious and think it might be a better alternative than the iphone due to the cost. I'm looking for a cheaper alternative that looks similar and is something that the "Kids, Chuckers and Wreckers" will use
I'm getting the quad core I6S "rose golden" one for less than $280 AUD
anyway - I'll give you an update when it arrives

Interesting, I take it the "I" is for iOS os and the "s" is for android. Is this the ones that you are meant to be able to replace certain parts yourself?
not too sure on the replacement of parts - it is the one the rip off ebay scammers are selling as real iPhone 6s
I am more interested in the functionality of it as the price tag is affordable if it works as described
I would say that the I6s is a direct rip off from the apple equivalent more than the combination of Android & iOS

only gsm and 1900/2100 3g though.......
I know its only 3G, but for less that 1/4 of the price it seems to be a really good alternative
anyway - I will soon find out

3G works better in most areas that I go to so that wouldn't be an issue either
Only 2100 band on 3g though
Ensure that the frequency spectrum on the phone matches your supplier's frequency or you might end up with a nice paperweight.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...
That's why I thought I would tell you guys, at least I'm taking the risk and where I am we have 3G, 4g & 4gx so my risk.
I am going to do a review and test it properly

Ok, it has arrived
will put something together shortly and review it properly
on a quick note - I don't like it, it looks like an iPhone..... but that's about it

I’m going to give as basic as possible, with the focus on how it feels and ease of use. As an apple product user it is easy to dislike the Goophone due to the differences and the functionality of the phone. I have asked an older gentleman at work to try it as he had a clamshell with no smarts about it at all – the independent reviewer
As for my opinion
Opening the box is a strange feeling as you know it isn’t real, but the Chinese have done a really good job copying the visual aspects of the iPhone. It doesn’t “feel” the same, but doesn’t feel cheap either, and side by side the differences are obvious to me, but the easiest thing to do is weigh it – 30grams lighter than its real counterpart.
Booting it up shows the apple logo and the operating system is very close to Apple iOS 9. It is a bit laggy but seems like a nice operating system. They have done very well in copying the icons from Apple.
The rear camera is not as good as the iPhone 6 and struggles to take a clean photo with moving subjects.
The front camera is the same as the rear – easiest way of comparing “apples with apples” is it is similar to the iPhone 3S or 4
Setting up the Goophone was the biggest disappointment for me – I was expecting the functions – or similar functions to an android, this is wrong. It is very limited with setting up anything……. To a point where you can’t even get rid of the “Chinese App Store” or even make it English. I’m thinking the biggest problem is that there is no specific Rom for Australia, or any other English speaking country and this is its downfall, you can't access Google play – and that means no apps.
There is no option of setting up APN’s so data without wifi is no existent – but I do need to try a few different providers as my independent reviewer is using Lebara which is Vodafone. Searching Google, there is an "Engineering mode" but I couldn't find the specific code to get it going – which looks like it opens a lot of the options that are needed to proper functionality
The usability of the Goophone as a phone
It does work but not sure if the signal indication is correct. The sounds from the Goo are tinny with little base and you have a limited choice when setting it up. An annoyance of the software is the way it chooses your provider eg Boost, then displays Telstra when making a call – it does the same with Lebara and Vodafone – but that is a personal opinion.
Texting – well………I think it’s a dud – the message app has a dictionary where when typing you need to press the space bar for the word to show in your message – OK if you don’t need to use an exclamation mark or question mark because it forgets all about the word you typed. I suppose if you got use to it – then no problems, but again I’m an apple user.
The next question is whether the Goo is repairable, I have split it in half and the obvious difference is the motherboard is attached to the screen, but the option of upgrading the memory by changing the sd card is good.
The battery needs addressing as a charging cable is required as a permanent accessory and my “independent reviewer” said the issues with the Chinese language throughout the phone is something that needs to be addressed.
I will be looking for a Rom or the special sequence that allows the engineering mode and hopefully make it better for english users and see if that makes this phone "better"
2/10

my mate bought a cheap chinese phone, got sucked in by the specs that on paper looked great for under $300
horrible phone, took nearly 3 months to arrive
so called 3000+ mAh battery lasted barely 7 hours and hardly gave any warning dropping from 40% to zero in minutes
stopped working after 3 months now if he wants to get it fixed, he has to send it back at his cost
and he found out the retailer only offers a 3 month warranty...................
moral of the story - cheap chinese phones aren't worth the price and just because they report good specs on paper, don't expect them to deliver
Thank's mate, I'm an Apple user myself so think I'll give it a miss.
I think that the moral is, do your homework first. I picked up a cheap MLAIS from our mate at Gearbest and it is serving me quite well, (had it for about 12mths now) Sure, some of the apps are a little clunky compared to the brand name equivalents but that is about all I have to complain about. BTW it is ANDROID and not intended to be a bit of fruit.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...
