    Default Electricity Monitoring at home.

    OOPPSS
Just had a look at my bill and its not 5.7kwper day its 60.96KWH
    Average daily cost is $17

    Hi All,
Just received my latest home electricity bill and holey $%#@.

Is there some way of looking into what is drawing most of the power in my house.
mine is at 60.96KW per day.

I have a 3.5kw solar system on the roof and that doesnt seem to bring the bill down too much.

    any ideas?

    Cheers

Welcome to South Australia!!!!!!! I reckon if you turn everything off at the fuse box, they'd still charge you for 10KW per day. Our local library (of all places) apparently has a device for testing power usage, haven't availed myself of it yet. I'm sure that you could find someone who could test it, what about one of those blokes that offer "free" energy assessments, they might be able to point you in the right direction. Even AGL or your energy provider might assist.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

I Agree with the comment they would still charge you 10kw a day :-)

I Might check the library to see if they have something.
Next time one of those shady people come to my door and ask if I want a free test I might have to see what they offer :-)
Just reading up on the energy and water ombudsman web site to see if they recommend any thing.

    Thanks for the reply

    Off Peak : 11pm to 7am - $0.1533
    Shoulder : 7am to 3pm - $0.3081
    Peak : 3pm to 11pm - $0.3081
    Daily Service Charge : $0.8564
Solar Generation to Grid : 11.8 cents per kWh

    Might have too
I will double check my bill for the daily use as that doesn't sound right I know im not paying 40c a KW but I know for sure it was $1800 then less my feed in tariff it came down to around $1600 im on about 52c feed in so just need lots more sun to overcome the high prices.

The only gas I have in my house is Two heaters, one at each end of the house which aren't on a lot as we don't feel the cold so everything else is Elect

    Cooking
    Water Heater
    Lights
3 teenage boys and their electronic devices

I use 3 times the amount of you at the moment with 2 people. I use most in Winter, have an 8kw Solar which knocks summer use to almost nothing and with improved feed in rate for Solar, I can have no power bill at all.
But with the price of Gas in Victoria getting outrageous, I have been turning the gas ducted heating off in favour of my 8kw daikin split system where I can because realistically off peak power is cheaper than gas.

    That's more like it....
I only use 8Kw per day and my bill was $180 I couldn't understand why you were complaining about 5Kw.

I'd be fkn spewing if I used 60.

    Yep mis read the Average,

I know in Summer peak on my panels I create around 28-35 kw from the 3.2kw solar system so I never cover my bill with the panels

No domestic consumer uses 60kWh a day unless they are running a *cough* 'hdyroponic' set up or something.
You are not even heating electrically.
    Speak to your service provider.
Sounds to me like a case of overcharging with a dodgy meter.

My average is 6kWh a day, solar, small family.

Are you sure your meter is not being used as a fan?

Now the figures are making sense, shit 60 a day, yikes ! And it was the same a year ago according to your bill.

Its a massive amount, you need to buy one of those meters that tells you how much a device is using. Most electrical stores should sell something.

Its a massive amount, do you have Plasma TV"s?
