Quick question about LIVE and DLC. Is LIVE console or region dependent I have a NTSC/U console so i can play rock band and want to get the DLC songs.

Really helpful mate. Why dont you post how you did it so others can learn how, rather than just being a smart ass. You have an ntsc console which is going to be the exception rather than the rule in Australia so there is not likely to be that many people who can assist in reality.
What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?

Not being a smart ass. All the XBOX 360 techs that browse through here you are telling me NOT ONE had an even remote idea. If you believe that you must believe in Santa and the Easter Bunny too. Id be more than happy to tell people how i achieved it if they want to know. FYI i know a lot of people in AUS with NTSC consoles (both JAP and US versions) but they dont bother with live or else they would know. Any way if anyone is interested they can pm me and i will tell them. THEY MUST HAVE AN NTSC 360 to do this though. I only needed to do it for ROCK BAND DLC and it works flawlessly

now I know that you can set up a live account and change your country (I have also heard microsoft don't like it when you do this) to access stuff from other countries....is this what you did? Put it up here, Id like to know!
seriously though....how much freight did it cost you to get rock band?
Not really sensitive just rather long winded. Rock Band didnt cost much freight at all. I ebayed the drums and mic and i have 2 wireless les pauls for GH3 which i use and i "obtained" a copy of Rock Band game rather not say on here and the NTSC console i managed to pick up cheaply here in AUS all up i think i spent $400

You fail at forums. Austech is supposed to be about sharing knowledge. You now have some information that "a lot of people in AUS with NTSC consoles" could use - yet you'll only share if someone PMs you? What use is that to the person who finds this thread via Google in a couple of years?

sounds like a 'know it all'(pisstake of Austech) to me??? You prolly aren't just use this as a learning experience to come across more clearly in your posts and use Austech to share your experiences.
Not to mention some people do have a life outside of the internet and Austech forum and as such aren't on here everyday...
Definitely not a know it all Austech has helped me on other issues before. I fully intend on posting how i did it but i cannot find the paper i scribbled it all down on. I apologize for getting a lot of people offside with some of my comments, waiting for ROCK BAND to be released in Oz does that to some people.
OK this is how i did it. PLEASE NOTE I DID THIS ON A NTSC/U CONSOLE I DONT KNOW IF IT WILL WORK ON A PAL CONSOLE:
1. Sign out of XBOX LIVE
2. Go to "Join XBOX LIVE"
3. Select "Join XBOX LIVE"
4. Enter a Gamertag and wait for it to check availability
5. Select "No, Create One" to a Passport Network Account
6. Choose USA for the country you want to download and enter language and birthdate
7. Enter a valid email address
8. Enter a password, confirm it, then select a secret question and answer
9. Enter first name and last name.
10. Enter a phone number this can be anything but it must be in the right format. I used 11225554477
11. Accept terms of use
12. Select Free Membership
13. Enter anything for Address 1 and city
14. For state select CALIFORNIA
15. For zip code select 90210
16. Pick any Gamer picture
17. Pick any GamerZone
18. Choose Y or N for spam
19. Select your device for storage and wait for your member ship to create.
All done. You can now download USA Marketplace content. The only problem i come across was you need US Microsoft points you cannot use AUS points. I found a place online you can purchase US points and they are delivered immediately via a redeemable code via email. The site is:
