"The maximum penalty for helping others gain unauthorised access to subscription television is five years' imprisonment."

And yet this dude 'sold' access to Foxtel programming to around 8000 people and all he gets is an 18 month suspended sentence.

    Hardly a deterrent.

Haidar Majid Salam Al Baghdadi, 33, was convicted of operating an illegal network that sold unauthorised access to subscription TV.
He is only a poor refugee/minority/non engrish speaking so the law does not apply and he will probably get a $$$ pay out for the stress said court case caused him

Might be that he was, ummm, helping some powerful people access this set up. He was set up close to where I live (Hinchinbrook I believe) and was well known in the area by those dabbling in pirate paytv. Seems they didn't catch all his minions doing the installs. No more said by me.
