HELP!!, I must be a Idiot, I have recently received my second DM500s and now I want them to share, have some info gathered off this site and need to edit the CCam 2.05 cfg I belive, but where the hell is the cfg file or how do I go about it!. Both my DM500s read my Op**s[ cable card thru different satellie dishes at the moment, with official cards, but I wanted to experiment sharing from one.

    You need an ftp client.

    ccam.cfg is in /var/etc

    Have a look through it.

You have not given enough info to answer further. Also what sort of knowledge you have? Any network exp.?

Shit , for a moment I thought you were an unofficial idiot ! Phew !

I am no expert and wont be a great deal of help BUT......

You will need an FTP program ( do a Google , plenty with a 30 day trial ) and FTP to your box using the boxes IP address ( go in to the menus and setup , expert setup , communication setup )

Default username is Root , Default Password is Dreambox.

I am not sure where cccam.cfg is as I dont have a 500 handy and connected , I am sure someone can tell you. You could use the search fucnction on the FTP prog to find it pretty easily.

DreamBox Control Center 2.5 is a good and easy program
to use to edit the dream box
once you have it set up look on the left hand side down the bottom you will see ftp tab then you can search for the ccam.cfg file in /var/etc folders

    good luck

    Default Still need Help!!

Thanks all for the info, the Dreambox Tools was great, can FTP the box no problems.
But because I have Zero programming skills I just edited the CCcam.cfg file, and it did not work, could someone email me an example of what it should look like ?, I guess it is simple to most people but its new to me!.
Also my recently puchased DM500s from Satronics is a little harder to use, seems to only use LNB 11300 setting and the network setting of 192.168.0.24 and It uses a different internet site to update cams, I ony had the option of about 6 cams with CCcam2.04 being the newest, my other DM500s has no problems. Is it the image or is it the internet sites, and if so how can I change the site?.
Sorry about the many questions but I am just learning.
Thanks in advance Idiot and now Stupid.

do they both have the same image

eg: gemini or do the have different ones as that would explain the different sites they download from.

as for the lnb and network settings knowing the image type will help to determine where to go to change them to suit your needs as they can all be changed on every image

Try using Textpad or UltraEdit to edit your files (Google them). The file must be written/saved in Unix format and not PC format. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but if you were using Windows notepad I don't think it will work.
