First off, the only part in the camera that's made by Sony is the CCD. The rest will have been made by any one of a multitude of copy cat factories in China. The claim of 50M IR range at night is nothing short of ambitious. The useful range is likely to be closer to 20m with 25 at a stretch. Also, dependant on the area you're trying to cover with this camera, the lens may be a little long/narrow. For typical domestic applications, lenses of 3.5-8mm or 4-9mm are more common.
Having said that, the camera should provide you with reasonable images day and night. Just don't expect to positively ID anyone that's at the end of your driveway at night unless the camera is focused purely on that point, the person is standing still staring at the camera, the wind is blowing from the south south east, the temperature is 20.10275°C and the individuals name is Samuel Alowishus.
