I'm very surprise that leads today for UPS that use a IEC Female plug from your power point to the UPS use only a 1.0MM lead and this it rated at 10 amps. you would think they should be at least 1.5MMsq? Can someone tell me a typical extension lead around 20M rated at 10 Amps what size cable they uses?.
Yes I need a lead a 0.5M longer and I want to buy the IEC plug itself and make my own lead using 1.5MM cable, I have a roll of 1.5MM cable, I have the 3 pin plug for the power Point but its not easy to buy The Rewireable IEC Female Plug. Ebay does not have them not unless you get them from the UK and it seems RS is the only other mob that stocks them.
Any though where you can get them locally or even a Electrical wholesaler.
Thanks

You could just buy a longer premade IEC Lead. They do come in various lengths.
800 Watt is under 4 Amps, so a 10 Amp Lead is more than enough.
10A is the rated max current from a standard GPO IE 2.4kW.

That's kinda odd...Jaycar are calling them male plug and female socket, Should be female plug and male socket
Thank you my Friend you are always on the Ball. I searched the Jaycar Thick and thin and I only found the Male one not the Female one and I need at Female one. For me Its confusing even more after the stroke so what I do now If it has something long coming out its a MALE and it it has a HOLE its a Female. (we heard that Before).
On the UPS they dont recommend using extension leads from the Power point to the Original supplied Input lead with the IEC plug on the end of it and since most all IEC leads are 1.0MM it think its no good (maybe I'm paranoid the lead needs to be 2.5M long )Sq I want to make the exact distance from the PP to the UPS from 1.5 MM Sq cable which is a little thicker on the outside. I also have a full roll of 2.5MM 3 core Extension cable but the outside diameter is a lot thicker and it would be a pain for the male three pin plug and the IEC female on the other end.
I will ring Jaycar and trott over there today if they have in in stock.
Done with a 1.5 Lead. All good, thanks All
What I do when a custom length IEC power lead is required is get a cheap 10A extension lead that comes in 3, 5 or 10m lengths from the bargain store, lop off the standard in-line socket and fit the IEC plug. Quick and doesn't break the bank.
